Connecting Your Shopify Store

This guide explains how to connect your Shopify store to LGS Ledger, whether you're using the embedded app or standalone mode.

Embedded Mode (Shopify App)

If you installed LGS Ledger from the Shopify App Store, your store is already connected! The app is embedded directly in your Shopify admin.

Accessing the App

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin
  2. Go to Apps in the left sidebar
  3. Click LGS Ledger
  4. The app will open in embedded mode

You're ready to start syncing products!

Standalone Mode (SaaS Dashboard)

If you signed up at app.lgsledger.com, follow these steps to connect your Shopify store.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, make sure you have:

  • Admin access to your Shopify store
  • Your store URL (e.g., mystore.myshopify.com)
  • Permission to install apps on the store

Step 1: Navigate to Store Connection

  1. Log in to app.lgsledger.com
  2. Click Dashboard in the top navigation
  3. If you don't have any stores connected, you'll see a welcome message
  4. Click Connect New Store

Step 2: Enter Store Details

You'll see a connection wizard with 3 steps:

Step 1: Store URL

  1. Enter your Shopify store URL
  2. You can enter it in any of these formats:
    • mystore.myshopify.com (full URL)
    • mystore (just the store name)
    • https://mystore.myshopify.com (with protocol)
  3. The app will automatically normalize it to the correct format
  4. Click Next

Where to find your store URL:

  • In Shopify Admin, look at the browser address bar
  • The URL is the part before .myshopify.com
  • Example: https://my-card-shop.myshopify.com/admin → store name is my-card-shop

Step 2: Review Permissions

Review the permissions LGS Ledger needs:

  • Read and write products - To sync MTG products to your store
  • Read and write inventory - To manage stock quantities
  • Read and write publications - To control product visibility in sales channels
  • Read metafield definitions - To check existing metafields
  • Write metafield definitions - To create MTG-specific metafields

These permissions are required for the app to function properly.

Click Next to continue.

Step 3: Authorize

  1. Click Connect to Shopify
  2. You'll be redirected to Shopify's authorization page
  3. Log in to your Shopify admin if you're not already logged in
  4. Review the permissions one more time
  5. Click Install app to authorize LGS Ledger

Step 3: Complete Setup

After authorization:

  1. You'll be redirected back to the LGS Ledger dashboard
  2. Your store will appear in the Connected Stores list
  3. The status badge will show Connected in green
  4. You can now select this store and start syncing products

Connecting Multiple Stores

LGS Ledger supports managing multiple Shopify stores from a single account.

Adding Additional Stores

  1. Go to Dashboard
  2. Click Connect New Store in the Connected Stores section

  3. The app will switch to that store's context

Note: Disconnecting does NOT delete products from your Shopify store. Products remain in your store until you manually delete them.

Troubleshooting

"Invalid store URL" Error

Problem: The store URL you entered is not recognized.

Solution:

  • Verify the store URL in your Shopify Admin
  • Make sure you're entering the .myshopify.com subdomain
  • Try entering just the store name without the domain
  • Check for typos in the store name

"Authorization Failed" Error

Problem: The OAuth connection failed during authorization.

Solution:

  • Make sure you're logged in to the correct Shopify store
  • Verify you have admin access to the store
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Check if your Shopify plan allows third-party apps

"Store Already Connected" Error

Problem: The store is already connected to your account or another account.

Solution:

  • Check if the store is already in your Connected Stores list
  • If it's connected to a different account, disconnect it there first
  • Contact support if you can't access the original account

Connection Lost After Working Previously

Problem: A previously working store shows "Disconnected" status.

Solution:

  • The app may have been uninstalled from Shopify Admin
  • The OAuth tokens may have expired
  • Try reconnecting the store using the same process
  • Your connection should restore with all previous settings

Store Card Doesn't Update

Problem: Store status doesn't reflect current state.

Solution:

  • Refresh the page to get the latest status
  • Check your internet connection
  • Look for sync status in Shopify Admin → Products
  • Check the Sync History for recent activity

Security & Privacy

How is my data stored?

  • OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
